Introduction. Today, the intertextual approach to the analysis of texts is one of the leading in literary science. This makes it necessary to train future teachers of the Russian language and literature in the methodology of this analysis, which determines the relevance of the article. The purpose of the study is to develop methodological foundations for teaching skills to identify specifics and interpret intertextual dialogue in literary texts.
Materials and methods. In the process of research, a cultural-historical approach to the problem of intertextual interactions, as well as methods of comparative, hermeneutic, receptive, intertextual analysis, were used.
Results. The article presents the levels of intertextual analysis that a student should master, as well as the classification of intertextual elements, which systematizes all types of references to pretexts.
Discussion. The presented methodology for working with intertextual analysis allows students not to experience difficulties in extracting borrowings from classical pretexts, to systematize the selected elements and to establish the semantic load of references. The article shows the practical application of this technique – the intertextual analysis of “Tales of the Golden Cockerel” by M. and S. Dyachenko.
Conclusion. The developed intertextual analysis technique helps to reveal not only references to precedent texts, but also to investigate the transformed semantic load of borrowed elements.

1. The main components of the intertextual analysis are given, which does not come down only to finding references to the case text, but also includes revealing the status of borrowed units, their systematization, analysis of relations with the pretext and studying the semantic transformations of these elements in the secondary text.
2. The classification of intertextual elements based on the research of N. A. Fateeva and E. V. Mikhina.
3. An intertextual analysis of the Tales of the Golden Cockerel was made by
M. and S. Dyachenko, during which manifestations of architextuality (a reference to the genre), metatextuality (intertext retelling with a varied ending) and intertextuality proper (allusions without attribution) were found.
